Thank you for recycling your unwanted clothing and shoes through our bins and mini recycle centres. We are Specialists in the collection & recycling of textiles and clothing.
Our core commitments are:
- Protect the environment by diverting clothes and shoes from the nation’s landfill;
- Reduces pressure on Earth’s valuable resources.
- Encourage us all to take it that one step further & start buying things that are made from recycled material to help close the recycle loop.
FAQs
What can we recycle in our Pods?
Please make sure items are clean and ideally in plastic bags. You can put the following items in your local textile recycling pod:
- All clothes – including coats, suits, underwear and night clothes;
- Hats, scarves and gloves;
- Belts, braces and handbags;
- All shoes – including boots and slippers;
- All household linen – including tablecloths, sheets and pillowcases, blankets, towels and curtains.
Please bag your donation and tie shoes in pairs.
Why do we call them Pods?
- Simply we want to emphasise our desire to recycle rather than “bin” items.
What do we do with items that can not be reused (or can not be put back in to the loop)?
Help us limit this by not leaving wet clothing, duvets, pillows or single shoes.
Unusable items are reclaimed either by:
- Sold to specialist firms for fibre reclamation to make yarn or fabric.
- Sorted into grades to make wiping cloths for a range of industries from automotive to mining, and for use in paper manufacture.
- Unusable remaining items are typically shredded for fillers in car insulation, roofing felts, loudspeaker cones, panel linings, furniture padding etc.
What do we do with the items placed in Pods?
- Goods are taken to a transfer station and then transfered to a materials facility.
- The different materials are recovered then machine and hand sorted. The different materials are then baled up.
- The bales are then sold on to reprocessors to be recycled
